Louisville basketball is in a massive recruiting battle for Taylen Kinney, as in-state rival Kentucky Wildcats are trending to be one of Kinney's top spots as well. Louisville and Kentucky made in-house visits at midnight when the recruiting process reopened.

The Cardinals were once the frontrunners to land Kinney, but it appears Louisville is now in a recruiting battle with Kentucky and others as Kinney updated his recruiting list to just eight schools. The Kentucky native is ranked as high as No. 11 in the nation and the best point guard in the 2026 cycle, making him one of Kelsey's top targets.

Louisville vs James Madison preview

Louisville football will have its first night game of the 2025 season as the Cardinals take on James Madison from L&N Stadium on September 5 at 7 p.m. local time. The Cardinals are 13.5-point favorites and are going to be led by ACC running back of the week Isaac Brown. The Dukes and the Cardinals played each other in 2022, with Louisville winning 34-10.

The Cardinals are on upset watch as many college football fans are betting the spread in favor of the Dukes. Louisville proved in Week 1 that its starters can dominate and take over quickly, but now with JMU arriving at Louisville, it will be a bigger challenge for the Cardinals.
