Louisville baseball makes its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2022. The Cardinals were drawn to the Nashville Regional and will have to go through the No. 1 overall seed, the Vanderbilt Commodores. Dan McDonnell and his Cardinals were given the No. 2 seed in this region, as East Tennessee State and Wright State round out the four programs in the Nashville region.

The Cardinals will travel to Omaha to start against the No. 3 seed in East Tennessee, while Vandy will face Wright State. The Regional round is double elimination, and the winner of this bracket will advance to the Super Regional. The Cardinals and Buccaneers will go head-to-head on Friday, May 30, at 2 p.m. local time.

Louisville baseball Regional round by the numbers

The Louisville Cardinals have a 20-24 record against all three teams combined, with their most experience coming up against the No. 1 seed, Vanderbilt. Louisville defeated the Commodores earlier this month, taking down Vanderbilt from Jim Patterson Stadium in a 5-4 victory. Louisville has a 13-21 overall record against the Commodores, as Louisville is 5-5 against them in the last 10 matchups.

The Cards have a 6-10 record against Vandy on their home field, but in the last seven games on the road, Louisville is 6-1 against the Commodores. The Cardinals have yet to play ETSU in program history, but they have played Wright State 10 times and own a 7-3 record. Dan McDonnell has had issues in the Regional round when he doesn't host from his home field, as he is just 8-7. However, his overall record is impressive, as he holds a 36-12 record in the Regionals.

Louisville football set to host top 100 OL

Jeff Brohm and Louisville Football will have a big recruiting visit in the next few weeks. The Cardinals are set to host 3-star offensive linemen this Friday, May 30. Pete Eglitis will make his first official visit to Louisville this Friday, having made an unofficial visit in March of this year.

Eglitis might be ranked as just a 3-star lineman, but he has visited and had interests in elite programs such as Ohio State, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Indiana. He has 19 offers and is ranked the 97th-best offensive lineman in the 2026 class.
