This is one of the biggest weeks of the year for Louisville athletics. The Cardinals' basketball programs are starting their NCAA Tournament runs, football is in full swing at spring practice, recruiting is at an all-time high, and baseball is in the top 25.
We are going to do our best to break down every sport, give a brief update, and provide a nice cheat sheet for the rest of the week for the Louisville Cardinals fans to follow.
Men's basketball NCAA Tournament begins
Pat Kelsey and his Louisville Cardinals are the hottest topic in Kentucky. Women's basketball March Madness path set
Jeff Walz and his Cardinals secured a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the first round. The Cardinals open up as 2.5-point favorites over the Cornhuskers and have made it to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th straight season. Louisville's NCAA Tournament streak is the fourth longest active streak in college basketball.
Louisville and Nebraska will tip off on March 21 at 6:00 p.m. local time from Schollmaier Arena. Louisville has the series record over Nebraska, as the Cardinals are 3-1 vs Nebraska. Louisville basketball has been a No. 7 seed three times in program history, including Jeff Walz's first season as head coach. Walz would lead the Cardinals to a Sweet Sixteen berth as the Cardinals upset the No. 2 seed in Xavier back in 2011.
Cardinals baseball continues to dominate
Louisville baseball dominated Northern Kentucky from Jim Patterson Stadium yesterday. The Cardinals run-rule the Norse in an 11-1 win and conclude their 18-game homestand.
Louisville will now travel to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech in their first away game. The Cardinals are ranked No. 16 in the nation after their series win over the No. 6 team against North Carolina. Louisville is 17-3 on the season.

Louisville football 2026 recruiting class is at all-time high
Jeff Brohm is a magician. The Cardinals have landed two 4-stars and nine 3-stars and are ranked No. 8 in the nation for their class of 2026 commitments. Leading the pack is Jaydin Broadnax, the 4-star defensive star from Florida. Broadnax is ranked as high as No. 199, according to ESPN.
However, the biggest news is that the Cardinals continue to dominate the in-state recruiting as Louisville landed 4-star running back Evan Hampton. The Kentucky native is ranked as high as the No. 1 recruit out of Kentucky, and No. 333 in the nation.
Louisville football also found out they are now the leading frontrunner to land 4-star DL Jamarcus Whyce. The Cardinals secured a spot in this 4-star recruit's top 12 schools and leapfrogged Notre Dame, Tennessee, and others.
Other news to keep an eye out for is that one of Louisville football's main targets, Kaydin Jones, announced he will make his official commitment on March 26. Jones is a unanimous 4-star running back out of Oklahoma.
Louisville football annual Spring Game is April 11. Louisville football Pro Day is set for March 25.
