The Louisville baseball team is having another collapse this season and it appears that the road is their kryptonite. The Cardinals have lost four of their last six games since their extra-inning victory over the Kentucky Wildcats.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals got humbled really quickly. They lost two of three on the road against North Carolina State and just lost two straight on the road to the No. 2 team in the country, the Clemson Tigers. The Cardinals are ranked No. 17 in the nation, as they are 27-11 on the year, but they are an abysmal 3-7 on the road.
Louisville is now 9-8 in the ACC play after a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to the Tigers on Friday nights. Louisville's pitching was not the area to blame, as the Cardinals gave up just six hits in the game. The Cardinals were down 2-0 entering the ninth inning, and with two outs, Jake Munroe brought life to the Cardinals as he hit his seventh home run of the season, making it a 2-1 ballgame.
However, it was all in the tank for this Cardinals offense, as Eddie King Jr. would strike out. The Cardinals bats had a glaring off day Friday night, but Louisville must ensure they avoid the sweep against the Tigers this afternoon at 1 p.m. local time.
Louisville basketball update
It is a hectic time of year, as head coach Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals basketball squad are approaching the end of their transfer portal and seem to be just a piece away from being the National Championship favorite.
Louisville opened up as +1400 to win the 2026 National Championship and is ranked as high as No.3 by Fox Sports in their way-too-early rankings. The Cardinals are now just waiting to hear from a couple of 5-star recruits and their power forward from last year, Kasean Pryor.
First, let's give an update on the 5-star recruit, Nate Ament. For those that have not heard, it was predicted that the No. 4 ranked prospect in the class of 2025 will commit to the Tennessee Volunteers. Travis Branham of 247Sports officially logged his Crystal Ball prediction and gave the Volunteers an exciting update. The Cardinals faithful assumed they wouldn't land this 5-star as it was reported on April 1 that Louisville lost a lot of ground and was jumped by the other four finalist programs.

The Cardinals wasted no time and immediately were reported to be among the top landing spots for the 5-star prospect from the transfer portal, Jamir Watkins. The Florida State transfer earned All-ACC Second-Team honors last season after he averaged 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 42 percent from the field and 32 percent from the 3-point line.
Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68’s reported that Louisville "could be in the mix" along with Illinois and Kentucky. The unanimous 5-star transfer is ranked as the No. 5 player in the portal and the No. 1 small forward.
Finally, the last 5-star update for Louisville is the 5-star point guard in the class of 2026, Deron Rippey Jr. The Cardinals AC, Jermaine Ukaegbu, was in attendance for the practice of the elite 2026 PG out of New Jersey. The Cardinals have been one of the top programs recruiting Rippey; as he stated, Louisville has been one of the most active schools.
On3 Spots give the Cardinals the third-best odds to win the 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard commitment, as Rutgers and Villanova are just slightly above Louisville. Rippey is ranked as high as the No. 8 player in the nation for 2026 and is the No. 4 point guard, according to On3 Sports.
Louisville football transfer portal update
The Cardinals have seen five players exit this spring transfer portal and have yet to receive a commitment from anyone. Louisville is set to host an under-the-radar tight end next Monday. Louisville must start targeting these wide receivers and defensive backs if Jeff Brohm wants to win another nine games this 2025 season.
