The Louisville Cardinals have been anxiously waiting for an update on the unanimous 5-star power forward Nate Ament, and they just received one, but the Cardinals faithful won't like it.
The Cardinals are one of five teams patiently waiting for Ament's announcement. Head coach Pat Kelsey and his staff were once the favorites to land this massive recruit. However, in the last couple of months, the Cardinals seem to have been forgotten, as the Duke Blue Devils and the Arkansas Razorbacks gained a massive lead ahead of Louisville.
Kentucky leapfrogged Louisville, making the Cardinals a heavy underdog to land the No. 2 power forward in the class of 2025. Travis Branaham of 247Sports and Paul Biancardi of ESPN reported first that Louisville was losing ground, and now, in the latest update from Branaham, it seems Louisville must move on from Ament and either attack the portal or Kasean Pryor for that final scholarship spot.
Louisville gets crushing update on 5-star Nate Ament as commitment coming soon
Branaham officially went on to make his Crystal Ball prediction for 247Sports and logged the Tennessee Volunteers as the favorite to land the 5-star power forward.

Recently, the Cardinals' 5-star commit, Mikel Brown Jr. made a massive pitch for Ament to be a Cardinal in an interview. However, it appears it just wasn't enough, and Louisville will have to look elsewhere. The Volunteers are a bit of a shocker, as many expected the Duke Blue Devils to land Ament. Still, Tennessee surged in the last month, especially after Ament delayed his commitment and made the most of these last few weeks.

While nothing is official, this is a significant update on the commitment, as fans from all over assume Branaham has received some substantial inside information, or else he wouldn't have made this prediction.
Following this crushing blow to the Louisville faithful, fans can expect a commitment date to be announced soon, as Ament recently stated that he will commit either this week or next.
