Louisville basketball fans got to watch the 'Cardinals' first exhibition game the other night, where UofL defeated Kansas 89-83. The Cardinals won a thrilling road exhibition game, and a big reason was their 5-star freshman, Obinna Ekezie Jr.

The 7-foot-2 center was all over the floor, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds, and a dominant 5 blocks. One impressive area was his ability to shoot from beyond the arc. At 7-foot-2, Ekezie showed he can be Pat Kelsey’s stretch four and start, as he went 4-of-6 from downtown. Cardinals fans would love to see Ekezie and Flory Bidunga get minutes together, as they could be one of the best frontcourt duos in college basketball, and Ekezie shooting 67% from beyond the arc made that case.

Mikel Brown Jr. had a up and down NBA debut

Former Louisville basketball 5-star Mikel brown Jr. made his highly anticipated NBA debut the other night. The former Cardinal certainly showed flashes of brilliance, attacking the rim early, getting a tough and-one through contact, splashing a 3-pointer, and making some impressive passes.

However, it wasn’t perfect. Brown finished with just 6 points on 2-of-8 shooting. After the game, he noted that he has to pick his spots and slow the game down. He played too fast and needs to let the game come to him a little. Brown missed three preseason games with an ankle injury, so he came off the bench for the Nets and played just 19 minutes, but he looked fully healthy in the Nets' loss and will hopefully get his first NBA start sooner rather than later. He finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Louisville's ACC Title dreams aren't dead just yet

The Cardinals are on a two-game winning streak after defeating Syracuse 34-26 this past weekend. The Cards are now 4-3 and are looking to continue this run, giving them a chance to return to the ACC Championship Game. But how possible is it?

Louisville certainly doesn’t control its own destiny at this point, as the Cardinals are two games back to Wake Forest with five games remaining. So Louisville needs college football to do its thing, the Demon Deacons to get upset twice, and the Cardinals to win out. Anything short of winning out, or a scenario in which Wake Forest takes care of business, would likely mean Jeff Brohm and company won't make it to Charlotte.
