Louisville football is facing the Clemson Tigers and is playing without its star running back, Isaac Brown. The Cardinals are trying to keep their ACC Championship hopes alive, but the hits keep on coming as Louisville fans saw starting defensive back and team leader D'Angelo Hutchinson being helped off the field after sitting on the field for a long time.

Hutchinson went down early in the second quarter, and according to reporters, he headed straight to the medical tent at L&N Stadium on Friday with an apparent shoulder injury.

Hutchinson is a crucial piece on this Cardinals defense, as he has the second-most tackles on the season, only behind T.J. Quin. The senior took a massive leap from his junior season with his 56 total tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception, all of which are career highs already.

The defensive back has had a massive season and has had a big role in Mark Hagen and Ron English’s defense. Last season, Hutchinson logged 52 tackles, three pass deflections, two tackles for a loss, and played in all 13 games. Louisville lost four key players from its secondary last season, and it has been Hutchinson all season long who has stepped up for this Louisville defense.

If Hutchinson is forced to miss the remainder of this game or future games, Louisville will likely be forced to lean on Rodney Johnson and Blake Ruffin to step up.

Hutchinson was injured in the second quarter of Louisville's Week 11 matchup with the Clemson Tigers. The star corner back was helped off to the sidelines after being attended to by the trainers and looked upset as he walked to the medical tent. He has yet to return.

UPDATE:

Hutchinson returned to action at the end of the half after missing a couple of possessions. Louisville's defense held its ground as the Cardinals entered halftime down 10-9, after missing an extra point and Duke Watson fumbling in Cardinals territory, which quickly led to a Clemson touchdown.
