Louisville football is having an eye-popping recruiting run in 2026 as the Cardinals landed the No. 5-ranked Transfer Portal class after landing over 32 transfers. Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow brought in elite playmakers like Tre Richardson and Lawayne McCoy while also keeping their best player, Isaac Brown.
Brohm took that momentum and brought it to the 2027 recruiting class as he landed 4-star Louisville native Allen Evans and 4-star Kentucky natives Ja'Hyde Brown and Jordan Haskins.
Now, as he continues to build this 2027 recruiting class, he also tries to make a push for 5-star Louisville native Kellan Hall in the 2028 cycle. However, one SEC giant has emerged as a dominant favorite.
SEC power emerges as heavy favorite for 5-star DL Kellan Hall
Hall is one of the best recruits in the 2028 recruiting class and is one of the top-ranked Louisville natives in a long time. Hall has taken multiple visits so far in his recruiting process, including two unofficial visits to Louisville.
However, the 5-star defensive lineman recently took spring visits to Oklahoma, Missouri, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio State, Indiana, and Georgia. Following these visits, On3 Sports has the Oklahoma Sooners as the dominant favorite with Brent Venables emerging as the early front runner.
On3 Sports updated Hall's recruiting projections, and the Sooners now have a dominant 84.7 percent chance of landing the 5-star. Behind Oklahoma is Notre Dame at 3.3 percent, Tennessee at 2.2 percent, Ohio State at 1.8 percent, and then Louisville at 1.2 percent.

Hall ranks as high as No. 3 overall, No. 2 among defensive linemen, and No. 1 from Kentucky, according to ESPN. On3 Sports ranks him No. 4 overall, No. 1 among defensive linemen, and 247Sports has him at No. 8 overall.
So, the Louisville native is a unanimous top ten recruit and is immediatley a dream target for Brohm and the Cardinals. The consensus 5-star recruit has earned over 25 offers, including from Louisville, and now the Cards will try to gain some ground on the Sooners.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive lineman is coming off a dominant sophomore campaign where he earned 53 tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, and an impressive 6.5 sacks for Christian Academy of Louisville.
Brohm and Vince Marrow have made it clear they prioritize the state of Kentucky in high school recruiting and have actually already landed one of Hall's teammates in the 2027 recruiting class. Ja'Hyde Brown is a 4-star wide receiver for Christian Academy of Louisville and ranks as high as No. 196 in the 2027 cycle.
Card fans are hoping Brohm and Louisville can make a strong push for Hall, as he would be the highest-rated commitment in program history.
