Louisville basketball legend returns this weekend for BGU showdown
The former basketball star is one of the most well-known alumni in the University's history. Mitchell currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he is a six-time NBA All-Star, which is a record for the most All-Star appearances by a Louisville alumnus.
Mitchell is known to come back and support his former school, as he has been to a football game in both 2024 and 2023 when he pulled up with multiple Cleveland Cavaliers players, including Evan Mobley and Darius Garland. The Cardinals fans cannot wait to see the basketball legend at the game when they announce he is there, as the fans were in a complete frenzy once they learned he is returning to UofL.

The fanbase immediately rushed to the comments and started commenting either 'PGU' or welcome home in some way, and now the football game against Bowling Green just got much more interesting.
Mitchell has been a supporter, recruiter, and fan for Louisville since he left. The former basketball star has helped the University immensely since his draft in 2017, as he gives back in as many ways as possible. It is rare to see an NBA star so loyal to their college, but that shows how special Louisville's culture is.
Mitchell will likely be in attendance for the Cardinals' showdown this weekend against Bowling Green and will likely stop by a Cardinals basketball practice or something along those lines.
