Louisville football fans just got shocking news as one of Jeff Brohm’s under-the-radar transfer commitments has re-entered the Transfer Portal. The Transfer Portal was open from January 2 through January 16, and any player who wanted to transfer had to submit their paperwork and enter the portal last night before the clock struck midnight.
That said, there will be a couple of reports of players entering the portal in the next couple of days as things get finalized, and unfortunately for Louisville, they just found that out the hard way. The Cardinals added three safeties this offseason so far, and it was just reported that Murray State transfer Dylan Rowsey will re-enter the portal.
Louisville football loses one of its key commitments for its secondary
Not only is Louisville completely stunned, as they were excited to watch Rowsey in the red and black uniforms, but it is a crushing blow to the safety room. The Cardinals' safety position is one of the areas Louisville still has to address, as the portal is closed, and now that Rowsey is gone, it becomes even more evident.
Popular Murray State safety transfer Dylan Rowsey, who’d signed with Louisville earlier this week, has now re-entered the transfer portal, @chris_hummer and I have learned.

The Cardinals lost three of their top four safeties from the 2025 season, including Corey Gordon Jr., who entered the Transfer Portal and recently committed to Kansas, and starting safeties D'Angelo Hutchinson and JoJo Evans graduated.
Louisville landed a big-time splash with Iowa transfer Koen Entringer, who ranks No. 11 among safeties and No. 156 overall in the Transfer Portal, and then their second commitment for the safety room was Rowsey. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety is an elite tackler who was going to make an immediate impact for this thin secondary.
Last season for Murray State, he logged the fourth-most tackles at the FCS level with 139, while adding 2.5 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one sack, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery. He also had 89 solo tackles, which was the most solo tackles in Division I football last season.
When he committed to Louisville, he was an unranked transfer, but now, as he decommits from the Cardinals and re-enters the portal, he ranks No. 960 overall and No. 90 among safeties. Brohm has the eyes to find hidden gems for his secondary, and it certainly felt like Rowsey was trending to be one of his gems.
As of now, Louisville has Entringer, Ole Miss transfer TJ Banks, and two freshmen, Jordan Vann and Micah Rice. Losing Rowsey is a crushing blow to this safety room, forcing Brohm to head back to the drawing board and attack the portal.
