Louisville football high school commits continue to turn heads nationwide, as two in-state commits are off to a red-hot start to their senior seasons. The Cardinals fans have been watching a few of their 2027 commits closely, including 4-star wide receiver Ja’Hyde Brown and 3-star quarterback Dre’Mail Carothers.
Brown has been nothing but dominant in his first two games with Christian Academy of Louisville, collecting a combined 16 catches for 272 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The 4-star wide receiver ranks as high as No. 66 in the nation and No. 11 among wide receivers.
Another 2027 commit standing out from the rest is top-ranked quarterback and Louisville commit Dre’Mail Carothers.

Coming off a dominant first game with Owensboro, the Cardinals' commitment had a lot of eyes on him. Well, he certainly didn’t disappoint, as the Kentucky native put up insane numbers this weekend, throwing 24-for-25 for 408 total yards and a combined seven touchdowns.

Carothers has dominated his senior season so far. The Cardinals QB threw for 25-of-41, 395 yards, and 3 touchdowns in his first game, and now, after an eye-popping second game, he has combined for 49-of-66, an impressive 74 percent completion percentage. The 3-star has also earned a combined 803 total yards as well as a dominant 11 touchdowns.
As of right now, the 3-star quarterback is turning heads nationwide and is making a case to surge up the rankings in the 2027 cycle. Carothers ranks as high as No. 614 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 36 among quarterbacks, and No. 9 among recruits out of Kentucky. However, after these two dominant games, he definitely has a case to rise in the 2027 rankings.
Carothers doesn’t get much national attention, but right now he is putting up ridiculous numbers that are putting his name on the map.
Brohm had a 4-star quarterback, Jack Sorgi, committed, but Sorgi flipped his commitment to Wisconsin. Now, the Cards landed Carothers over ACC rival North Carolina, as well as Oregon State, USF, and others, and the hope is that he rises to a 4-star if he continues to go off like he is right now.
The Kentucky native is making a strong case to rise in the rankings after two games, but whether he does or not, Louisville fans continue to take notice and grow excited about the current 3-star quarterback.
