Louisville football is just a week away, and the Cardinals fans cannot wait. Jeff Brohm and the Cards have a massive Week 1 showdown against Ole Miss, where the No. 9 Rebels and the No. 24 Louisville Cardinals are set to face off against one another on Sept. 6 on a neutral field at the Liberty Mutual Music City Kickoff.
Over the past couple of weeks, the Cardinals have been able to watch football, and meaningful football, as Louisville fans are keeping a close eye on some of their high school commitments. Brohm has 16 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, including multiple from the state of Kentucky.
The Cards' top commitment is a Louisville native, Ja’Hyde Brown, and for the second straight week, the 4-star wide receiver turned heads with another dominant performance.
Ja'Hyde Brown continues to dominate in 2026
Brown plays for Christian Academy of Louisville, one of the top teams in Kentucky. They had a marquee game on Friday night, where CAL was set to play another top-five team in the state, Owensboro. This was set to be a top-10 matchup in the state, with CAL ranked No. 10 and Owensboro No. 4, according to MaxPreps.
Well, Christian Academy of Louisville absolutely steamrolled the No. 4 team in the state, with Brown and CAL winning by a dominant 52-0 score. The Louisville commit once again had eye-popping stats, securing five catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Not only did the Cardinals' elite wide receiver commit have another impressive game, but he also had an impressive catch. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound wide receiver put the jets on and showcased his speed, completely burning the cornerback and finding the open space in the secondary. CAL’s quarterback then threw a great ball, which ultimately led to a filthy one-handed catch in the end zone for one of Brown’s touchdowns.

Christian Academy of Louisville has now won 24 games in a row, including a dominant Week 1 win, 41-0 over Pikeville. Brown had another crazy stat line during that game, where the Cardinals' 4-star wide receiver earned 11 catches for 180 yards and four touchdowns.
Brown is off to a red-hot start in 2026, as he carried the momentum from the offseason. The 4-star WR won MVP at The Opening this summer, which led the Louisville native to soar up the rankings from No. 252 to No. 66 overall, No. 11 among wide receivers, and No. 1 from Kentucky.
The 4-star wide receiver is giving Louisville fans a lot to be excited about for the Cardinals next season. Brown is proving he has the potential to be an elite wide receiver for Louisville, and the Cardinals fans can not wait to watch him in red and black.
