Louisville football remains active in the Transfer Portal as the Cardinals work overtime. The team must replace key pieces from last season, including the starting quarterback, but Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow are currently focusing on landing a star wide receiver.
Louisville will lose six of its top seven wide receivers from last year, including star receivers Chris Bell and Caullin Lacy. So, with the Cards having to replace their top production from 2025, Brohm is trying to get that star as soon as possible and build around some elite outside talent.
The Cardinals first learned that it will host UAB transfer Iverson Hooks today and North Texas star Wyatt Young after his visit to Oklahoma State. And just now, Cardinals fans learned that Louisville will host its third receiver, Kansas State transfer Jayce Brown.

Brohm isn’t messing around, as we are just over 36 hours into the portal being open, and he is setting the record straight that he wants some star power on the outside. Between these three wide receivers, they all rank inside the top 250 in the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings, and are all top 50 wide receivers.
Brown is one of the top-ranked receivers in the portal at the moment, as the Kansas State transfer ranks as high as No. 40 in the portal and the ninth-best receiver after his three seasons with the Wildcats. Across his first three collegiate years, the junior logged a combined 115 catches for 1,972 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The former Wildcat was Avery Johnson’s top receiver over the last two years, leading Kansas State in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. In 2024, he earned a career-high 47 catches for 812 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns, and he followed that up in 2025 with 42 catches for 712 yards and five touchdowns. He has been a key piece for the Wildcats every year, even in his true freshman season, when he caught 27 passes for 437 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The Cardinals are one of six schools to earn a visit from the 6-foot-180-pound receiver. Louisville will be in a challenging battle with SEC giants Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn, as well as in-state rival Kentucky. The dates for Brown’s visits aren’t announced yet, but Louisville being in the mix for three elite wide receivers is exactly what the Cardinals fans wanted early on in the portal window.
