Wow. Louisville football's season is alive, and the fans are higher than ever on this team. The Cardinals started 4-0, but few were impressed with their undefeated start. After falling to Virginia at home, the fans were particularly ruthless. Many expressed anger and disappointment towards head coach Jeff Brohm and USC transfer Miller Moss, but all that quickly changed after the Cards pulled off what may have been the biggest upset in program history.
Louisville was nearly a two-touchdown underdog entering this game, and Miami had defeated three ranked teams and was considered one of the best teams in the nation. The Hurricanes were ranked No. 2 in the country, but as many know, Mario Cristobal is usually due for a mess-up game, and Brohm is generally due for a big-time upset. Well, the Cards pulled off a crazy 24-21 victory on the road, not only making it the program's first top 10 win on the road, but also keeping their season alive.
Entering this game, Louisville had a massive long shot at returning to the ACC Championship game and winning the conference, but after this upset, the Louisville fans saw their odds skyrocket.
Louisville is right back in the mix for the ACC Title
The Cardinals had +3000 odds to win the ACC entering their crucial showdown with the ACC frontrunners, but after their massive win over Miami, the Cards saw their odds soar, while Miami saw their odds take a hit.
FanDuel updated its rankings after Friday night's game, and the Vegas oddsmakers have the ACC as wide open. The ACC has seen a crazy amount of upsets, including Georgia Tech over Clemson, Virginia over Florida State, and now Louisville over Miami. Now that the Cards have just saved their season and are in the mix, FanDuel gives Louisville +600 odds to win the conference, which is the fifth-best odds.
Ahead of Louisville is Duke with +500 odds, Virginia with +400 odds, and Georgia Tech with +370 odds. The Blue Devils and the Yellow Jackets will play each other this afternoon, resulting in one of these teams losing in the conference. And, of course, Miami still has the best odds, but their odds have plummeted from -220 to +260.
With their backs against the wall, Brohm delivers a massive win for this program, and the fans are celebrating on this Saturday morning. The odds are soaring, showing this conference is wide open, and if Louisville can just play like it did tonight, then it has a legitimate chance at returning to Charlotte.
