The spring is officially behind us, and the Louisville football program is starting to prepare for its busy summer and ensure this team is ready for the 2025 season. Jeff Brohm and his Cardinals are having a solid offseason as the Cards' brought in an elite Miller Moss quarterback and solid wide receiver options, starring the North Carolina State transfer, Dacari Collins.

Now that spring games and the spring portal are over, fans and experts are shifting their focus to the summer. USA Today recently released its rankings for the ACC coaches, and Jeff Brohm was right at the top at No. 2, only behind the Clemson Tigers head coach, Dabo Swinney.

Well, USA Today updated its college football rankings, as Paul Myerberg ranked all 136 football programs at the FBS level. The Cardinal Nation saw its Louisville Cardinals ranked the highest they have been in any way-too-early rankings so far, as Myerberg appears to love this Louisville Cardinals football roster.

National Rankings Just Gave Louisville Football Fans Real Hope for a CFP Run

The Louisville Cardinals are ranked No. 16 in USA Today's way-too-early rankings. This is the highest ranking from any media outlet, as ESPN sees the Cards at No. 22, and many don't even include the Cards in their top 2025.

The Cards have a legitimate path to the College Football Playoffs, but they will have to take care of business in the ACC. A glaring reason the Louisville is getting national recognition, and is ranked this high by Myerberg, is their highly explosive offense.

This Cardinal offense can score with anyone in the nation, as preseason All-American Isaac Brown will lead Brohm's offense. Louisville was the only team in the country last season to score 24 points or more, and this 2025 offense has the capability to repeat that fun stat.

Louisville will face tough challenges this upcoming season, including Miami, SMU, and Clemson. ESPN reported that the Cardinals' season-defining game is their crucial showdown with the Hurricanes on October 17, when Louisville travels to Hard Rock Stadium.

The Clemson Tigers led the way in the ACC, as Dabo Swinney and his squad are ranked No. 2, and the Miami Hurricanes round out the top 10 at No. 10. Louisville, in Myerber rankings, would be on the bubble for the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season, making their games against Miami and Clemson massive.

Duke was the next ACC team ranked in Myerberg's rankings, coming in at No. 32. The Cardinals look to secure at least nine wins this upcoming season, as their win total is 8.5 by FanDuel. Louisville will kick off its season against Eastern Kentucky on Aug. 30 from L&N Stadium.
