Louisville football is expected to make a significant leap next season and become one of the top three programs in the ACC. The Cardinals entered the summer with the third-best odds to win the ACC, and many experts have spoken out, calling Louisville the most underrated team in the nation.

The Cards have all the tools to compete for the ACC Title and have a schedule that favors them to return to that ACC Championship game. The biggest name to return for Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals is the elite running back Isaac Brown.

The sophomore tailback is a key returner and the primary focus for this Cardinals offense. He has received a great deal of high praise this offseason, but he has recently earned a spot on Phil Steele's 2025 Preseason All-American Team.

Louisville football’s Isaac Brown earns prestigious recognition

Last year, in his true freshman season, Brown put up historic numbers in Louisville football history. The Cardinals star running back started in nine games and earned 165 carries for 1,173 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. He also added 30 receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown.

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound runningback earned a spot on Phil Steele's 2025 Preseason All-American Second Team as an all-purpose athlete while making the All-American Fourth Team for the running back position. He also secured a spot on Phil Steel's Preseason All-ACC First Team.

Brown's numbers speak for themselves, as he led the ACC with 7.1 yards per carry last season, and his 11 rushing touchdowns were ranked No. 5 in the conference. He earned ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Offensive Player of the Year while securing a spot on the Freshman All-American Team.

Also receiving some hype were seven other Cardinals who made Phil Steel's Preseason All-ACC teams. Caullin Lacy is expected to take a massive leap as he earned a spot on his Preseason All-ACC First-Team. Joining Brown and Lacy on the Preseason All-ACC First Team is center Pete Nygra.

Louisville football's star linebacker Stanquan Clark was the lone Cardinal to earn a spot on the All-ACC Second Team. Rounding out the other Preseason All-ACC teams include wide receiver Chris Bell and defensive end Clev Lubin, earning spots on the All-ACC Third Team, and defensive tackle Rene Konga and linebacker T.J. Quinn making the All-ACC Fourth Team.
