Louisville football gets a late Transfer Portal addition to help its special teams as the Cardinals learned they will add Rhode Island transfer, Garth White.
Way-too-early Louisville football 2026 game-by-game predictions
Louisville already had its annual Spring Game, and the Cardinals are gearing up for the upcoming season, but Jeff Brohm apparently isn’t done building this roster just yet. Louisville has had one of the best offseasons in the nation, as On3 Sports ranks its now 34 transfer additions No. 4 in the nation, and now White is the third kicker on the team.
Louisville football adds placekicker Garth White
Louisville fans and staff were not impressed with the special teams during the Spring Game, as the Cardinals went 3-of-6, with returning kicker Nick Keller 1-of-3 and freshman Carson Hilbert 2-of-3. And apparently, that left quite a sour taste in Brohm’s mouth, making him go target a placekicker.

White transferred to Louisville after playing with Rhode Island this past season. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound kicker played in all 14 games with the Rams, and went 14-of-18 on field goal attempts, including 2-of-2 from 50+ yards. He also converted 96.4 percent of his 56 extra-point attempts.
Before his time at Rhode Island, he started his career at the JUCO level with Ventura Community College. He was a punter his freshman season, and then transferred to USC, where he didn’t see a single snap in three years.
Now, after the Cardinals' worrisome Spring Game from their kickers and special teams, Brohm got crucial depth at the kicker position.
The Cardinals had games last year where special teams played a major factor, like the Clemson game, and Brohm doesn't want something like that costing his chance of returning to the ACC Championship game or making the Cardinals first College Football Playoffs.
