Louisville football has been dominating the 2027 recruiting class early on, landing four 4-star commitments, including the No. 39 overall recruit, Allen Evans. The Kentucky native ranks as the consensus No. 1 recruit from Kentucky, and Louisville is trending with multiple Kentucky natives after landing Evans.
One many fans have gotten familiar with is the 4-star wide receiver, Cam Wade. The 4-star recently cut his list down to just four schools, as the Cardinals were reported to be in a four-team race with LSU, Maryland, and Florida State. The Cardinals appeared to be the favorite to land Wade, with a 31.3 percent chance of earning his commitment, but recently, he reportedly slowed his recruiting process and is scheduled to visit more programs.

The Cardinals have already landed two Kentucky natives in the 2027 recruiting class, and it appears they are going to have a harder time than they thought landing Wade. The 4-star wide receiver was trending toward making his commitment soon, and many thought he was set to become a Cardinal, but Tom Loy reports he will “slow things down a bit” and make eight unofficial visits and three official visits.

Now, it is good to see Louisville is one of the eight teams to earn an unofficial visit and makes it feel like they are still high on his list, but Wade is set to visit six teams not in his final four, and is scheduled to make an unofficial visit and an official visit to Florida State and Maryland.
After this update, Louisville is no longer the favorite, as Auburn has a 27.8 percent chance of landing his commitment, Florida State has a 24.3 percent chance, Maryland has a 20.8 percent chance, and Louisville now has the fourth-highest odds at 8.9 percent, according to On3 Sports.
Wade ranks as high as No. 278 in the nation, No. 36 overall, and No. 5 out of Kentucky. The Cardinals have already landed one 4-star wide receiver in Chuck Alexander Jr. and a 4-star tight end in D'Angelo White. Wade would be a huge splash to this 2027 recruiting class, which already ranks in the top five in the nation, but after this update, it appears Louisville has fallen out of the frontrunner seat.
