Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals are emerging as legitimate ACC contenders year after year, after the Cardinals have won nine games in two consecutive seasons. Louisville football lost just six players in the spring transfer portal, and as of now, they have added nine players.
The Cardinals' wide receiver and tight end rooms were extremely thin, making Brohm and his staff attack these areas this offseason. Louisville secured commitments from three tight ends and two wide receivers from the spring portal.
The staff is high on the Cardinals' offseason moves from the winter and spring portal. The Cards' will see many new faces starting for Louisville next season, including USC transfer Miller Moss. Brohm has also brought back key contributors from a year ago, including their star linebackers Stanquan Clark and TJ Quinn and star running back Isaac Brown.
Louisville football post spring transfer portal roster predictions
Louisville showcased its potential this spring at practice and the Spring Game, and some players stepped up and showed they can start for Brohm's Cardinals. With the spring season over and the spring portal window closed, let's take a deep dive into Louisville football's projected depth chart heading into the summer.
Offense
Quarterback
- Starter: Miller Moss
- Backup: Brady Allen
The Cardinals' quarterback room is going to be led by their most significant offseason addition, Miller Moss. The USC transfer is a 4-star transfer after his time with the Trojans and is expected to be a key piece for Brohm's offense next season.
Running Back
- Isaac Brown
- Duke Watson
Louisville football is expected to have one of the best running back rooms in the nation with its dynamic duo of Isaac Brown and Duke Watson. Brown is coming off one of the best rushing seasons in Louisville football history, as he rushed well over 1,000 yards last year, breaking multiple Cardinals records.
Wide Receivers
- Starters: Chris Bell, Caullin Lacy, Dacari Collins
- Backups: Antonio Meeks, TreyShun Hurry, Bobby Golden
The Cards' added solid pieces for depth this offseason in Dacari Collins and TreyShun Hurry, but their two returners will get all the attention. Caullin Lacy had 99 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Spring Game and is expected to take a massive leap after missing most of last season. Chris Bell is projected to be an All-ACC caliber receiver for the Cardinals after he continues to improve year after year.
Tight End
- Starter: Nate Kurisky
- Backups: Davon Mitchell, Jaleel Skinner, C.J. Jacobsen, Jacob Stewart
Behind the wide receiver, the tight end was the most significant area of concern on the offensive side, and Brohm addressed it. The Cardinals brought in three tight ends to fill in the thin tight end room, as Davon Mitchell, C.J. Jacobsen, and Jacob Stewart will join Jaleel Skinner and Nate Kurisky.
Offensive Line:
- Starters: Trevonte Sylvester, Lance Robinson, Naeer Jackson, Rasheed Miller, Pete Nygra
- Backups: Mahamane Moussa, Carter Guillaume, Makylan Pounders, Michael Flores, Jordan Church
The Cardinals' offensive line is expected to leap forward, even after Austin Collins transferred. Collins was the Cardinals' best returning lineman, but Louisville has an experienced group that their center will lead, Pete Nygra.

Defense
Defensive Line:
- Starters: Wesley Bailey, Rene Konga, Jordan Guerad, Adonijah Green
- Backups: Justin Beadles, Denzel Lowry, Jerry Lawson, Clev Lubin
Louisville lost some studs on their defensive line from last season, but their newcomers and returning players are expected to step up and fill in the holes. Louisville is expecting Jordan Guerad to take a step forward and be a key senior on this new-looking defensive front.
Linebackers:
- Starters: T.J. Quinn, Stanquan Clark, Antonio Watts
- Backups: Kalib Perry, T.J. Capers
The Cardinals' linebackers are expected to be their glue guys on the defensive side, as T.J. Quinn and Stanquan Clark are the Cardinals' top returning defensive players. The two linebackers have been the Cardinals' leading tacklers for the past two seasons, and have great backups in Kalib Perry and T.J. Capers.
Defensive Backs:
- Starters: Rodney Johnson Jr, Rae'mon Mosby, JoJo Evans, D'Angelo Hutchinson
- Backups: Joseph Jefferson II, Jabari Mack, Corey Gordon Jr., Blake Ruffin
The Cardinals lost four top-five defensive backs from last season, including top corner Quincy Riley. Louisville saw their new defensive backs play some snaps at the Spring Game and shocked most. While this position is the Cardinals' biggest question entering the following season, fans are hopeful and think the two transfer JoJo Evans and Rodney Johnson Jr could take some leaps forward and be the Cardinals' best defensive backs moving forward.
