Louisville football's 2026 class continues to rise, but name fans are gaining more excitement for the quarterback commit Briggs Cherry. The future Cardinals has seen his stock skyrocket this summer, especially after Cherry won the Elite 11 Panini Accuracy Challenge and set a new record.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback recently made the jump from a 3-star to a 4-star rating and is now ranked as high as No. 128 in the nation, the thirteenth-best quarterback, and No. 5 out of Tennessee. Cherry continues to outshine elite quarterbacks in the 2026 cycle, and recently, at the Elite 11 Finals, he demonstrated his arm, earning the award for the best arm from Andrew Ivins.

Irivins is the Director of Scouting for 247Sports and is one of the most respected scouts of any platform. Cherry, earning his award for best arm, comes with high praise as the future Cardinal beat seven of the top 10 quarterbacks in the 247Sports rankings for this award. 247Sports ranks Cherry at No. 26 in the 2026 cycle, making it a massive deal that he was able to win this award.

Elite 11 is known to be one of the best camps for high school recruits as the event has had big-time names participate like Cade Klubnik, Quinn Ewers, and Drew Allar in 2021 and Tim Tebow, Vince Young, Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, and Matthew Stafford in the past.

Cherry is the perfect quarterback for Brohm's offense as he throws darts on the football field and can effortlessly throw the deep ball. The Cardinals have gone the transfer portal route for the last three seasons, but it appears Cherry is emerging as Brohm's future quarterback.
