Louisville football went up 41-7 in the first half after Isaac Brown and Miller Moss impressed the nation and dominated Eastern Kentucky. Well, after just one half of football, Jeff Brohm decided to go to his backups and take all of his starters out, including his starting quarterback.
Brohm didn't reveal who Moss's backup was in the depth chart, but he did reveal it by going to Brady Allen over Deuce Adams to start the second half. The two quarterbacks were in a quarterback battle all offseason, but it is clear now that Allen secured that QB2 spot. With Allen being named Moss's backup, does that mean Adams might have one foot out the door and is officially on transfer watch?

Deuce Adams officially on transfer watch after losing QB2 battle
Adams and Allen were in a neck-and-neck battle throughout spring and fall camp, and Brohm decided that Allen was the better quarterback for his backup position.
Allen is a redshirt sophomore, while Adams is a redshirt freshman, indicating from an eligibility standpoint, Adams won't gain much experience and playing time with the Cardinals. With the two quarterbacks just separated by one year, Adams will be playing behind Allen for the majority of his tenure with Louisville, if he decides to stay.
If Adams decides to stay loyal to the Cardinals, he must realize that he will be a backup for his entire career, possibly even QB3, as Brohm has shown a tendency to utilize the transfer portal to acquire experienced quarterbacks.
If Allen plays like he did in the Spring Game as the Cardinals' backup quarterback, then Adams will hold a clipboard for the majority of his time with Louisville, making it seem like the Transfer Portal is a better route for the redshirt freshman.
On top of all that, Brohm gave true freshman Mason Mims a lot of praise this offseason, and Louisville has 4-star Briggs Cherry joining the quarterback room in 2026. Adams' future is uncertain with Louisville, but of course, he can't enter the Transfer Portal until the winter.
Louisville fans won't be shocked if he leaves after the season, after Allen won the backup position, and Mims and Cherry will be in the room next year as well. There is a chance he can win that QB2 position as the season progresses, but for now, Adams is officially on transfer watch.
