Louisville football received massive news this Monday afternoon, as the Cardinals reportedly hired Kentucky's tight ends and associate head coach, as well as recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow, as their new general manager, according to Pete Thamel.

This massive report comes as shocking news as Marrow has spent the last 12 seasons with Kentucky and Mark Stoops. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2019, and while many thought he might take the head coaching job at Bowling Green, he decided to stay in the state of Kentucky and join the Wildcats' biggest rival.

The Cardinals just stole a crucial piece of the Wildcats' football program, as Marrow will now look to elevate this program's recruiting to that next level as the Cardinals' General Manager.

While it may shock many that a coach would leave a program to join its rival, it was reported that head coach Jeff Brohm has been recruiting Marrow for years, per KSR’s Matt Jones. Marrow was able to bring Kentucky to relevance for many years and elevate their recruiting.

He is a well-respected coach and recruiter, and he fits perfectly as the Cardinals' next general manager. Louisville went to their in-state rival and ripped not only a crucial piece from their staff but will now jump even further ahead of the Wildcats and should dominate the state of Kentucky even more.

Louisville has secured four of the top 5 recruits in the class of 2026 from Kentucky, and with Marrow now leaving Kentucky for Louisville, the Cardinals have even higher expectations for recruiting and the future of this program.

Louisville stealing Marrow will not only spark this program, but it will spark the rivalry. Louisville just stole the Wildcats' prized jewel and will now try to compete for the College Football Playoffs and their first ACC Title, while Kentucky will plummet even further.

Marrow is a certified recruiter and roster builder. He is excellent at his job and was the Cardinals' glaring missing puzzle piece to elevate to the next level.
