The college football season is just a few weeks away, and Louisville football continues to be a team that many experts are excited about. Louisville is led by head coach Jeff Brohm, who has won at least nine games in all three seasons since taking over at Louisville and now hopes to punch his ticket to his first College Football Playoff.
There is a lot to be excited about regarding this Cardinals team, especially on offense. Louisville is led by their new quarterback, Lincoln Kienholz, a whole new offensive line, two 4-star wide receiver transfers, a 4-star tight end, and, of course, this eye-popping running back room.
Isaac Brown is the star of the unit, and the elite running back continues to collect preseason recognition.
Isaac Brown continues to earn preseason recognition
The Cardinals' star running back is returning to Louisville for his third season. UofL and Brohm avoided a nightmare scenario as everyone thought he was going to leave and enter the Transfer Portal after he announced it in December, but Louisville convinced their star to return, and he ultimately decided to stay.
Now, Brown is expected to be one of the top running backs, not just in the ACC, but in college football. On3 Sports released its Preseason 2026 All-America football team, and the Cardinals fans were happy to see Brown earn a spot on the Second-Team All-America.
The All-America Teams have two running backs per team. On the First-Team, it has Ole Miss, Kewan Lacy and Missouri’s Ahmad Hardy. Joining Brown on the Second-Team is BYU’s LJ Martin.
Many fans and experts believe the Cardinals have a real chance to return to the ACC Championship Game, and a big reason is Brown. The elite running back was on The Sporting News First-Team All-America Team and was one of 30 running backs listed on the Maxwell Award Watch List.
Brown is coming off an eye-popping season, though he was limited to eight games due to injuries. However, when he did play, he was nearly unstoppable. Brown averaged a dominant 8.8 yards per carry after earning 101 carries for 884 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. The preseason All-American ran for 100 yards or more in six of the eight games, including the Cardinals' upset over Miami, where he rushed 15 times for 113 yards, and against Boston College, where he earned 14 carries for 205 yards and one touchdown.
The year prior was his historic freshman season, in which he broke Louisville’s true-freshman rushing yard record after logging 1,173 rushing yards and averaging 7.1 yards per carry. Brown rushed for 100 yards or more in five games his freshman season, and went on to earn ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Now, Louisville fans hope he can stay healthy, have an All-American season, and lead this squad to the ACC Championship Game and their first College Football Playoff appearance.
