Louisville football was finally beginning to build its wide receiver room, but the Cardinals just got hit with a blow from Antonio Meeks. The Cards landed three receivers in the past two days, including 4-star transfer Tre Richardson this morning, and a former 4-star recruit out of high school and Kentucky transfer Hardley Gilmore IV.

Late Friday night, Louisville football fans learned that their only returning receiver who was still on the team and logged stats last season will also enter the portal. Meeks is the 27th Cardinal to enter the portal and the sixth wide receiver to do so, as he will now join Eli Adams, Bobby Golden, TreyShun Hurry, and Kris Hughes in the Transfer Portal.

On top of losing all those wide receivers, Louisville lost its two stars, Chris Bell and Caullin Lacy, as they both ran out of eligibility and declared for the NFL Draft. The Cardinals have now lost their top seven receivers from last season and two of their top three tight ends, forcing Brohm to hit the portal hard for some more receivers, despite landing Richardson this morning.

Louisville football gets crushing Antonio Meeks update

Louisville has had one of the best offseasons in the nation as they rank as high as No. 4 in the On3 Sports rankings, but Brohm and Vince Marrow have to get depth for the wide receiver room. Meeks logged 17 catches for 189 yards and a touchdown in 2025 while playing in all 13 games.

Louisville landed 20 commitments in the first week of the portal, and with just one week remaining, it’s clear the wide receiver room remains the No. 1 priority. Louisville losing its top seven receivers from last season means it lost 2,348 receiving yards of the Cardinals' 2,868 passing yards.

Some wide receiver names to keep an eye on moving forward this offseason for Louisville fans include Syracuse transfer Darrell Gill Jr., Ohio State transfers in Mylan Graham and Quincy Porter, and Texas transfer DeAndre Moore Jr. With Louisville landing Lincoln Kienholz the Cards quickly reached out to Graham and are in a battle with Auburn, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss, and it would make sense if they also try and target Porter after he recently entered.

As for Gill and Moore, Louisville reached out to Gill, who is coming off two productive seasons with the Orange, and the Cardinals are in a battle for Moore with Kentucky, Ole Miss, Colorado, and Ohio State. It appears Louisville is on the outside looking in, but after losing Meeks, maybe Brohm and Marrow try to go all-in on the No. 5-ranked wide receiver in the portal.
