Louisville football is coming off its bye week, and the Cardinals are looking to start a run for the rest of the season. Louisville has had a roller coaster of a season leading up to their bye, starting 2-1, including a huge win over SMU, and reaching as high as No. 16 in the nation.
Louisville still has a path to the ACC Championship Game - but Cardinals need help
But after that win, they dropped two straight games. Now, they have answered back with two straight wins, and they will look for a third straight this weekend against Stanford. They face the Cardinal at home in L&N Stadium this Saturday at 3:15 p.m. local time.
Louisville sits fifth in the ACC at 4-3 and 3-2 in conference play, and if they want any shot at making it to Charlotte, they must win every game on the road. So, with Saturday being a must-win, let’s break down some early odds and make a prediction.
Louisville vs Stanfod odds
With UofL at 4-3 and Stanford at 4-4, both teams enter this game on a two-game winning streak. Stanford is coming off a big win over North Carolina State, a Wolfpack squad that beat UofL earlier this season. Now it's the Cardinals' battle, and Louisville is the clear favorite. According to ESPN Analytics, Louisville has a 97.2 percent chance of winning and is favored by three touchdowns.

Big Red Louie predictions
With Louisville coming off a bye and much-needed rest, the Cardinals will be tough to slow down. The Cardinals have faced Stanford only once in program history, which was the heartbreaking loss in 2024, when Stanford beat Louisville 38-35.
Now, the Cardinals and Jeff Brohm are looking for revenge. If Louisville wants to avoid another loss to Stanford, it must find a way to slow down star running back Micah Ford. He is second in the conference in rushing yards, with 679 yards on 136 carries and eight touchdowns.
We see this game close in the first half, maybe closer than some UofL fans would like, but then in the second half this Jeff Brohm offense takes over and leads UofL to win by 17. Lincoln Kienholz will throw for over 300 yards in the second straight game and the fifth time this year, and we predict the defense to force two turnovers.
Prediction: Louisville 38 Stanford 21
