Louisville basketball learned late in the evening yesterday that the Cardinals are one step closer to securing a massive commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, per 247Sports Dushawn London. The 5-star phenom Abdou Toure cut his list down to just seven schools, and the Cardinals are now set to be in a heated recruiting battle with Arkansas, Florida State, Maryland, Oregon, Providence, and UConn.

Toure has been one of Pat Kelsey's top targets as the elite wing is recruited as both a shooting guard and a small forward. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing ranks as high as a 5-star prospect and the No. 23 recruit in the nation and the No. 9 small forward in the recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite. On3 Sports/Rivals ranks him as a shooting guard and ranks him as high as the No. 26 recruit in the nation and the No. 7 shooting guard in the recruiting class.

Toure is one of the top recruits in the nation as he has earned over 18 offers from big-time programs. Louisville was able to beat out elite programs like Alabama, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Oregon, and others.

Louisville receives massive recruiting update from 5-star Abdou Toure

The 5-star wing has been one of the top players in high school basketball as the consensus No. 1 prospect from Connecticut is a two-time Connecticut MaxPreps Player of the Year. Toure is coming off his junior season, where he averaged 25.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game, and guided Notre Dame High School to another state championship.

As of now, the 5-star has already visited UConn, Arkansas, and Providence twice. All four visits have been unofficial, and he is currently trying to finalize his official visit schedule.

Louisville went out and visited Toure during his junior season, and he reportedly has said he has a "great relationship" with the Cardinals and would like to take an official visit to Louisville, per Jody Demling. In that report, Toure also mentioned he plans to commit during his senior year in high school.

The Cards are in the conversation for multiple 5-star recruits as they have made Ikenna Alozie, Deron Rippey Jr., Jaxon Richardson, Taylen Kinney, Arafan Diane, and more updated recruiting lists. They have also earned visits from 5-star Tyran Stokes and have visits lined up this fall from Cole Cloer, Josh Irving, and Anthony Felesi.
