Jeff Brohm needs a win in Week 6, as Louisville football is in the middle of a crushing skid. The Cardinals have lost two straight and are 1-2 to start conference play, after falling by three to Wake Forest and then by three to North Carolina State.
Louisville vs. Florida State: how to watch, odds, injuries, and more
Now, Louisville is on a short week, as they will face Florida State Friday night inside L&N Stadium. The Cardinals have a lot of areas that need to improve, but the glaring issue is the secondary and the defense giving up chunk plays.
Well, as the Cardinals get ready to face the Seminoles, UofL just got a huge boost in its secondary, as Pete Nakos reported that key defensive back Koen Entringer is available and will return after missing the past two games.

Louisville's Koen Entringer will play Friday night against Florida State
Entringer’s absence has left a glaring hole in the Cardinals' defense over the past couple of games. The Iowa transfer first missed the Cardinals game against Wake Forest, where Gio Lopez completed 12-of-19 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown, and then Entringer also missed last week, when Louisville’s defense got exposed by Wolfpack star QB CJ Bailey.
With Entringer on the sideline, Bailey completed 24-of-40 passes for a career-high 373 passing yards and added two passing touchdowns. The Cardinals secondary has desperately missed Entringer, so hearing Louisville is getting their star safety back is huge, as Brohm desperately needs a win in Week 6.
So far this year, Entringer has 18 total tackles, including 10 solo, plus one pass deflection. The Iowa transfer came to Louisville after a career year with the Hawkeyes, where he logged 73 tackles, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
He was one of the Cardinals' biggest additions on the defensive side of the ball, and it showed in the past couple of weeks, when Louisville’s defense struggled mightily.
Entringer will have his hands full right away, as this Florida State offense is no joke. Last week, they dominated Virginia, beating the Cavaliers 38-7 after Seminoles quarterback Ashton Daniels ran for five touchdowns and 136 yards while also throwing for 183 yards.
Louisville’s defense must step up Friday evening if they want to turn this season around, and getting Entringer back is a step in the right direction. The Cardinals and Seminoles kick off at 7 p.m. local time, with Louisville entering as 3.5-point favorites.
