Jeff Brohm and Louisville football’s 2027 recruiting class surge continues as the Cardinals get good news from 4-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins. The Cards have been one of the biggest surprises so far in the 2027 recruiting class, as Brohm has the Cards ranked in the top 10 and trending toward making program history.

Watkins now has a chance to be part of history, as Hayes Fawcett reported that the elite 4-star cut his list down to six schools, and Louisville is now one step closer to another big-time splash. The Cards are now in a SEC and ACC recruiting battle for Watkins, as Louisville will face Kentucky, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Wake Forest.

The Cardinals have been heavily involved in Watkins' recruiting process, as Deion Branch visited the Georgia native in January, and now the Cards will earn an official visit from the elite 4-star on May 29. Watkins is a top receiver in the class, earning over 36 offers, including from Texas A&M, South Carolina, Pitt, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Georgia, and others.
He initially committed to Nebraska in September, but the 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver decommitted from the Huskers, and the Cards have been one of the top teams in his recruiting process. The 4-star Georgia native ranks as high as No. 161 in the nation and No. 26 among wide receivers.
Watkins plays for Thomas County Central, where he had an eye-popping junior season collecting 55 catches for 847 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. In his sophomore season, the 4-star wideout logged 39 catches for 692 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
He would be a huge addition to Louisville’s already impressive 2027 recruiting class. If he were to join the Cardinals, he would be Brohm’s sixth 4-star commitment and third 4-star wide receiver commitment. Louisville’s 2027 class has nine commitments as of Friday, and is ranked No. 7 in the nation.
