What an answer from the Louisville Cardinals and Jeff Brohm. Louisville needed a big win on Friday night, and the Cardinals delivered exactly that.
Louisville’s Isaac Brown is back to doing what he does best — making history
Louisville dropped their two previous games leading up to tonight, and early in the game, it didn’t look promising. Louisville trailed 14-0 after the first quarter, and after Louisville missed a field goal, the Seminoles looked to extend their lead. However, the Cardinals held Florida State out of the end zone after stopping the Seminoles four times inside the Cardinals' five-yard line.
And after that moment, it was all Louisville. More specifically, it was all Isaac Brown.
Isaac Brown just had a career game Friday night vs Florida State
Louisville won Friday night's game 44-20, and the Cardinals improved to 3-3, thanks to their preseason All-American Isaac Brown. The star running back had a slow start to the season, and fans wondered what was going on with the former All-ACC Rookie of the Year, but in Week 6 he delivered the performance Louisville desperately needed.
Brown finished the game with an absolutely dominant stat line, logging 17 carries for 235 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Louisville fans knew they needed a big game from Brown with his partner, Keyjuan Brown, out, and he delivered.
Brown not only showed off his speed as a running back, but he also broke free for a 71-yard kickoff return to start the second half, which led to a Lincoln Kienholz touchdown that put Louisville up 28-14 in the third quarter.
Brown needed a performance, and while no one expected it to be this big, it was exactly what Louisville and its star running back needed. Before this dominant performance, Brown had just 57 carries for 322 yards, and while that isn’t terrible, it certainly isn’t what Louisville fans or Brown is used to.
Last year he averaged 8.8 yards per carry, 7.1 in his freshman season, and this year, leading up to tonight's game, he was averaging just 5.6 yards per carry. Brown had just 36 yards against Ole Miss, 61 against Villanova, 67 against SMU, and 33 against Wake Forest. However, Brown has popped off in the past two games and is playing to the standard Cardinals fans expected leading up to the season.
Last week, he rushed for 100+ yards, getting nine carries for 125 yards, and this weekend he rushed for 235 yards, his new career high in a single game. Brown broke free for multiple runs, but the one that stands out is his 97-yard touchdown in the second quarter, the longest play in Louisville football history.

Friday night was a must-win for Louisville, and Isaac Brown put the team on his back and delivered when they needed him most. The Cardinals will look to build on this 24-point win and try to keep their ACC Title hopes alive as they face Syracuse next Saturday.
