The Louisville Cardinals go the international route once more as Pat Kelsey and Louisville basketball add their third international recruit. Sananda Fru and Mouhamed Camara will now be joined by Evangelos "Vangelis" Zougris, a 20-year-old phenom who committed from Peristeri B.C. in the Greek Basketball League.
Kelsey struck gold once again as Zougris will skyrocket this Cardinals frontcourt and make it one of the best in the ACC. The Cardinals' frontcourt will now be led by Fru, Kasean Pryor, J'Vonne Hadley, Camara, and possibly Aly Khalifa.
The newest Cardinal stands tall at 6-foot-8, 250 pounds, and has elite experience, having represented his home country, Greece. The power forward/center has a soft touch around the rim as he is an elite finisher, but is a perfect James Scott replacement as he has a tremendous paint presence on both ends of the floor.

Louisville basketball lands massive commitment from elite international forward
The Greek native is known for his appearances at the past two FIBA U20 World Competitions, where he earned spots on the All-Tournament Teams. Zougris represented Greece at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship, averaging a double-double with 14.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Later, he also represented Greece once more at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket. The star forward appeared in seven games, averaging 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds.
The newest Cardinal most recently played in GBL, where he averaged 7.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game across 23 games. He was able to finish at the rim at a high rate, shooting 68.5 percent from the floor, making it clear that he will be a perfect fit for Louisville's frontcourt after losing Scott to Ole Miss.
Zougris has represented his home country since 2021 and continues to do so, averaging 5.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game at the 2025 FIBA Europe Cup.
The Cardinals now have earned four total commitments from the 2025 cycle. 5-star recruit Mikel Brown Jr will lead Louisville's freshman class. The elite point guard is ranked as high as the No. 6 recruit in the 2025 class and the No. 1 point guard.
