Louisville basketball added elite players from the transfer portal this offseason, but the players they gained commitments from overseas have been flying under the radar. The addition of Mouhamed Camara and Evangelos Zougris are two crucial additions for head coach Pat Kelsey as international players bring a different style of play and usually much-needed grit.
The Cardinals will have a stacked roster, led by multiple 5-star players and a handful of 4-star players, but it is also essential to remember Camara and Zougris. While these players might not make a massive impact this season, they will be key pieces off the bench.
Louisville has officially added Camara, and in the official statement by the University, Kelsey unveiled why he is so crucial for next season.

Louisville’s new 4-star commit is the defensive anchor Pat Kelsey desperately needed
Camara is a significant addition to Louisville's roster, as at 6-foot-8 and 215 pounds, the forward has the skills to become an elite two-way player. The Senegal native spent the past two years with the NBA Academy Africa, averaging 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game, while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Since Louisville earned his commitment back on May 19, 247Sports has now elevated him to a 4-star recruit, and is ranked as high as No. 212 in the nation and the 43rd best power forward in the 2025 cycle. Camara has the chance to be Kelsey's elite defender that he desperately needs, and with his impressive stat line over the past two years, it is clear from Kelsey's statement that Camara is trending to be his glaring x-factor.
""Mo is a big-time athlete who has the ability to be an elite defender early in his career. He can guard every position on the floor and disrupts both on the ball and at the rim. He has great tools and a mindset that craves coaching, which will allow him to develop quickly. He will be playing on an experienced, veteran team, which will allow him to learn and grow daily. We are very excited to have him here at Louisville.""Pat Kelsey
The Cardinals will have some solid options on the defensive side in J'Vonne Hadley and Adrian Wooley, but the tenacity and grit Camara brings is the glaring reason why he could play valuable minutes next season. His length, along with his strength, is a perfect combination, and one that Kelsey desperately needed on his roster.
Now, he will have to develop on the offensive side, but for now, the Cardinals fans should be thrilled to hear how excited Kelsey is about Camara's potential, especially since he is the perfect fit for what Louisville needs.
