Louisville football’s 2027 recruiting class has been turning heads early this offseason. The Cardinals have already landed seven commitments for 2027, including four 4-star verbal commitments. One of those four 4-stars is elite quarterback Jack Sorgi out of Indiana.

The 4-star quarterback was the Cardinals' first 2027 verbal commitment as he announced his commitment to Louisville back in June, 2025. He committed to Louisville unranked, but after a dominant junior season, he now ranks as a 4-star recruit and a top-25 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class.

With his rankings soaring, Sorgi is beginning to get more looks his way, including from his dad’s alma mater, the Wisconsin Badgers. The Cardinals appear to still be in the lead with the 4-star recruit, but all of a sudden, the quarterback is on flip watch as the Badgers are inching closer to trying to flip one of Louisville’s 4-stars.

Sogi’s dad, Jim Sorgi, played at Wisconsin from 2000 to 2003, where he completed 55.5 percent of his passes, threw for 4,475 yards, 33 touchdowns, and was a sixth-round draft pick by the Indianapolis Colts. He spent the majority of his career as Peyton Manning's backup with the Colts, playing six seasons in the NFL from 2004 to 2009.

Now, his son attends Tri-West in Lizton, Ind., and has a verbal commitment to the Louisville Cardinals, but Jim’s alma mater is pushing hard to flip him to Wisconsin.

Sorgi recently took an unofficial visit and “absolutely loved everything” during his visit to Wisconsin. The 4-star commitment reportedly stated the race is “definitely close” and he plans to visit both this spring, as he already has an official visit lined up with Louisville on May 29.

The 4-star quarterback ranks as high as No. 169 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 15 among quarterbacks, and No.3 among Indiana natives. He threw for 2,911 yards and 31 touchdowns in his eye-opener junior season, while also completing over 61 percent of his passes.
