Louisville basketball’s full focus right now is on recruiting, specifically the Transfer Portal. The Cardinals have had a good run at the portal since Pat Kelsey's arrival. In his first offseason, he landed players like Chucky Hepburn, Terrence Edwards Jr., and J’Vonne Hadley, and last year he grabbed three elite guards in Adrian Wooley, Ryan Conwel, and Isaac McKneely.

Well, the Transfer Portal isn’t just about going out and recruiting players in the portal, but it is also about recruiting within and avoiding nightmare situations. The Cardinals have some key players returning for next season, and if Louisville wants to compete for an ACC crown and a Final Four berth, they will have to try to avoid some big names entering the portal.

One name everyone is watching is Wooley, the 5-star transfer from last year who is on everyone’s radar, and just this morning, he sparked Transfer Portal rumors with a social media post.

Adrian Wooley hints at big news coming soon

The Cardinals have yet to lose a player to the portal, but fans are growing increasingly concerned that Wooley might be closing in on a decision. Today, on his Instagram story, Wooley posted a picture of himself with the emoji “soon” and an arrow pointing to three dots.

What does this exactly mean? Well, we aren’t entirely sure. It could hint that he is announcing he could return to Louisville, or maybe that he plans to enter the Transfer Portal.

But, with all the buzz around college basketball right now surrounding the NCAA Tournament and the Transfer Portal, it certainly feels like he is hinting at some sort of announcement. Wooley would be a huge loss for Louisville as the 5-star transfer ranked No. 9 in the portal last offseason, and Cardinals fans are hoping he would be their starting shooting guard in the 2026-27 season. But if he were to announce he plans to return, it would be a massive update, as he is likely the Cardinals' starting shooting guard if he returns.

Last year, he averaged 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 steals per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from downtown. He transferred from Kennessaw State after being one of the top true freshmen in college basketball. Wooley averaged 18.8 points, on 51.2 percent shooting from the floor and 42.2 percent from beyond the arc. And on top of his elite ability to score, he averaged 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Louisville fans are going to anxiously await what this social media post could hint at. Maybe it is about the Transfer Portal, maybe it isn't. But with players entering the portal from all over, it feels like this is about his upcoming decision on whether he plans to stay or leave.

So, for now, Louisville fans will wait to see what their potential starting shooting guard will decide.
