Louisville football gets massive news on the recruiting side of things following its huge win over Miami. The Cardinals haven't had much news on recruiting recently, but after a win like that over Miami, they will receive some excellent news, and this time it involves retaining one of their biggest 2026 commitments.

Back in March, the Cards landed a top in-state recruit in Karsten Busch, beating out Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, and others. However, earlier this month, the Miami Hurricanes extended an offer to Busch, trying to swipe him away from Louisville. But after the Cards' massive win over the Hurricanes, the Kentucky native announced yesterday that he will shut down his recruitment and is officially a Louisville Cardinal.

Louisville's top commitment ends flip watch rumors after shutting down recruitment

Busch is an elite 2026 commitment for Vince Marrow and the Louisville Cardinals. He ranks as high as No. 449 in the nation, No. 31 in the linebacker position, and the fourth-best player from the state of Kentucky.

Last season for St. Xavier, he logged 59 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, and seven sacks. He is a major acquisition for this Louisville program, and securing his commitment is a significant sigh of relief for the program.

Now, after securing Busch and his commitment, the program will turn to elite running back commitment Lekhy Thompkins. Similar to Busch, Thompkins is receiving heavy recruitment from Miami and has been on a flip watch for quite some time now, as Colorado has also hosted the Louisville commit for official visits.

Thompkins has received offers from Colorado and Miami and has visited both programs since committing to Louisville. She recently took a visit back to Louisville earlier this month. Thompkins has emerged as a hidden gem for this 2026 recruiting class, as he has become a star for IMG Academy.
