Louisville football just pulled off the biggest road win in program history as the Cardinals took down the undefeated and No. 2-ranked team in the nation, the Miami Hurricanes. Louisville got off to a hot start and scored 14 points in its first two possessions, and that 14-point lead was just too big for Miami ever to overcome.

Jeff Brohm and these Cardinals had their backs against the wall after their loss to Virginia, and Brohm has shown multiple times in his coaching career that he has the full capability to win the big games. The Cardinals fans were disappointed with the Cards so far through the 2025 season, but as soon as Brohm goes up against the best team on his schedule and on the road, he shows why he is considered one of the best coaches in the nation.

Louisville was a 12.5-point underdog entering this game, but history shows that Brohm has a better record against top-five teams in the nation, and the odds actually should favor him.

Jeff Brohm continues to prove why he is an elite coach

Throughout Brohm's career, he has gone up against six top-five teams, and after tonight's massive upset win, the elite head coach has an astounding 4-2 record against top-five teams. The Cardinals' head coach is emerging as one of the best head coaches in college football, and a significant reason why is that he continually proves he can win the big games.

His two losses against top-five teams in the nation came against LSU, when he was with Western Kentucky, and against Florida State in the 2023 ACC Championship game. Besides those two games, Brohm has dominated the big games.

With Purdue, Brohm was 13.5 points underdogs against No. 2 Ohio State and dominated the Buckeyes in a massive 49-20 victory. His biggest season came in 2021 when he was able to take down No. 2 Iowa and No. 3 Michigan State.

He then became the head coach for Louisville in 2023 and hasn't skipped a beat. While this was his first top-five win, he secured big-time wins over No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 11 Clemson. Not only was he able to secure these massive wins in his career, but in every one of these wins, he was the underdog and pulled out a double-digit win.

Tonight's win over Miami proves why Brohm deserves all the flowers he gets. Some of the Cardinals fans were a bit disappointed with the way this team has performed and how the coaching staff has performed, but all that changes with this historic win. The Cardinals' season is back and alive, and Louisville once again controls its own destiny and has a path back to the ACC Title thanks to Brohm and his magic.
