Louisville basketball has had a dominant offseason for the second straight year. Last year, Louisville ranked No. 3 overall in the nation for the three transfers they brought in, and now, after Pat Kelsey landed six transfers, including one 5-star, he has this group ranked No. 1 in the Transfer Portal class rankings.

Milan Momcilovic Update: Latest news boosts Pat Kelsey's chances of landing 5-star PF

Louisville is coming off a second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament, and Kelsey made it clear he wants to get this program back to the Final Four. Right now, the Cardinals are trending as a Final Four contender based on the roster Kelsey has built, but On3 Sports' latest rankings reveal how massive it would be if Milan Momcilovic were to commit to Louisville.

Louisville already looks dangerous - But Milan Momcilovic changes everything

The Cards, for the most part, are a unanimous top 15 team in reporters' and analysts' way-too-early rankings at the moment. In On3 Sports' latest rankings, the Cardinals come in at No. 14, and while that is still a good spot, Fletcher’s ranking shows how big it would be to get Momcilovic.

Louisville, right now, in these rankings, is the third-ranked ACC team, as Duke is No. 4 and Virginia is No.8. However, if the Cardinals were to add their third 5-star and land the No. 2 overall transfer in the portal, it would be hard not to jump this unit up into the top 10 and past Virginia.

Louisville is in a three-team battle for the 5-star transfer as the Cardinals are battling Kentucky and Arizona. Kelsey and the Cards held a Zoom call with Momcilovic on Friday, and now Louisville fans are anxiously awaiting the elite power forward's decision.

The 6-foot-8 power forward would be a dream addition for the Cardinals as he is a true power forward who is a knockdown 3-point specialist. This past season for Iowa State, he averaged 16.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.7 made 3’s per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the field and a Division I basketball high 48.7 percent from beyond the arc.

The 5-star 136 made 3’s was the most in Division I basketball, and Momcilovic went on to make four or more 3’s in 17 games, 6 or more 3’s in seven games, and he had two games where he made seven 3’s, and he had four games where he made eight 3’s.

Louisville is a top-15 team as the roster stands, and they could definitely go on a Final Four run, but if Kelsey can land Momcilovic, this team goes from a top-15 team to a likely top-8 team and enters the NCAA Title hunt.
