The recruiting process for the class of 2028 recruits is beginning to heat up as college programs were officially allowed to contact these recruits starting on June 15. Louisville basketball is trying to emerge as one of the top recruiting programs in college basketball, and Pat Kelsey is trying to get ahead as quickly as possible with some of these elite prospects.

Louisville has quickly reached out to some of the best recruits in the 2028 cycle, including the nation's No. 1 overall recruit and unanimous 5-star AJ Williams. The Cardinals were among many programs to contact the 5-star small forward from Georgia, and Louisville reportedly just recently contacted another 5-star.

With the contact period officially open, Kelsey and Louisville have been reaching out to some of the best recruits in the 2028 class. And earlier this week, Recruits Zone reported that Kelsey and Louisville contacted 5-star recruit and top-20 recruit in the nation, Logan Chwastyk.

The Cardinals are reportedly among 19 programs to reach out to the 5-star recruit, including multiple ACC programs such as Duke, Syracuse, Virginia, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Boston College, and Pitt.

The other major schools that reached out to Chwastyk included UConn, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Ohio State, Villanova, Stanford, Kansas State, St. Mary’s, Penn State, and Xavier.

Chwastyk ranks as high as a 5-star recruit in the 2028 recruiting class and ranks as high as No. 19 overall in the nation, No. 6 among centers, and No. 2 from the state of Pennsylvania. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound center has already landed eight offers, including from Notre Dame, Syracuse, Florida State, Indiana, Villanova, Penn State, and others.

So, if that happens, Chwastyk would potentially be Ekezie's replacement. Kelsey has his eyes on an elite center, as the Pennsylvania native is an elite rim-protector on one end, and with his soft touch around the rim, he is a huge threat on offense on the other end.

He also recently competed at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., and the 6-foot-10 center quickly turned heads, earning honorable mention honors after averaging 7.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the field.

The dominant big man is now averaging 12.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting an impressive 56 percent from the field for his AAU team.

The Cardinals have extended offers to five 2028 recruits, according to 247Sports, including, most recently, 5-star point guard Michai White and 5-star guard Josiah Rose. Louisville is entering the race for some of the top prospects in the 2028 recruiting class, and it appears Kelsey is beginning to target one of the best centers in the cycle, Chwastyk.
