Pat Kelsey and Louisville basketball are making a push in the 2028 recruiting class as the contact period is officially open. Louisville already has one commitment in the 2027 recruiting class as Louisville native and 4-star recruit Ferlandes Wright committed to the Cardinals earlier this year, but now Kelsey is also looking to get ahead of the curve in the 2028 cycle. The Cards have contacted multiple 4-star and 5-star recruits in the 2028 recruiting class, including the nation's No. 1 overall recruit, AJ Williams, and the state of Kentucky's No. 1 recruit, Josh Lindsay.

Now, Louisville recently contacted one of the top-ranked shooting guards in the 2028 recruiting class, Jordan Mize.

Recruits Zone recently reported that Louisville was among many major programs to contact the 4-star shooting guard. The Cardinals are quickly putting themselves into the mix for the elite guard, as, aside from Louisville, LSU, Utah, Texas, Arizona, Purdue, UCLA, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Stanford, and USC, all reached out as well.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard from Chatsworth, Calif., has already secured seven offers, including from LSU, USC, and Utah, who quickly reached out after the contact period opened up. The other four programs that have already extended offers to Mize include Oregon, Tennessee, TCU, and Oregon State.

Mize is one of the top-ranked shooting guards in the nation, as the 4-star recruit ranks as high as No. 31 in the 2028 recruiting class, No. 6 among shooting guards, and No. 4 among recruits from California.

The 4-star shooting guard was invited to Colorado Springs, Colo., as Mize is currently trying to make Team USA's U17 team. Over 36 recruits were invited to Colorado Springs to make USA Basketball's U17 national team, which began on June 13. Team USA is trying to trim its roster to 12 players for the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup, June 27 to July 5, in Istanbul, Turkey. Mize made the first cut and is now one step closer to making the team, as 18 players are competing for a spot on the roster.

The Cardinals have emerged as a top recruiting program in the nation, as Kelsey has quickly made Louisville one of college basketball's top landing spots. The Cardinals had the No. 1 Transfer Portal class in the nation, and now Kelsey will look to build off that and dominate high school recruiting as well.
