The recruiting process for the 2028 recruits is beginning to heat up, as yesterday, June 15, marked the first day college programs could contact recruits in this cycle. Louisville basketball, of course, is taking full advantage of the early date, as Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals reportedly reached out to multiple recruits.

Pat Kelsey and Louisville waste no time targeting Kentucky's top-ranked 2028 prospect

One of the first names Louisville fans noticed Kelsey reached out to was the Louisville native and 4-star recruit, Josh Lindsay. The 4-star point guard is a highly explosive player who ranks as high as No. 4 among point guards and No. 26 in the 2028 recruiting class.

While it would be a dream to see the hometown hero stay at Louisville, Kelsey, of course, reached out to some other point guards as well. And Jake Weingarten recently reported that one of the point guards Kelsey got in contact with was the 5-star point guard, Michai White.

Kelsey went viral when he called Louisville "PGU" this past year, in hopes of landing 5-star Taylen Kinney. Despite the Cards not getting the Kentucky native, Kelsey has still been able to recruit elite point guards. Since his time with Louisville, he has coached two All-ACC point guards, Chucky Hepburn and Mikel Brown Jr., and he has now landed multiple 5-star recruits, with Brown and new addition Jackson Shelstad both rated 5-stars out of high school.

Now, Kelsey appears to be trying to go big in the 2028 recruiting class, reaching out to multiple elite 5-stars and elite guards, White included. The 5-star point guard ranks as high as No. 17 overall in the 2028 recruiting class, No. 3 among point guards and No. 1 from the state of New Jersey.

Weingarten reported Louisville is one of many Division I schools to contact the 5-star since June 15, as Boston College, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Houston, Providence, Indiana, Auburn, Kansas State, Penn State, Maryland, Ohio State, and UNLV all reportedly reached out to White as well.

The 5-star point guard is currently playing in Nike's EYBL league for City Rocks, averaging 21.2 points and 4.8 assists per game. His dominant 21.2 points per game rank No. 5 in the 17U league.

As of right now, On3 Sports gives Louisville the third-best chance to earn his commitment at 12.4 percent. Syracuse has the best chance with 16.5 percent, and Virginia is right behind at 14.4 percent. So, On3 Sports has this as. An early ACC recruiting battle for the 5-star, but many more teams are likely to join this recruiting process.

The 5-star has already earned 17 offers, including from Louisville, Indiana, Auburn, Virginia, Oklahoma State, and others. The 2028 recruiting class is starting to heat up an,d Kelsey has Louisville involved with many big-time recruits.
