Louisville basketball’s 2026-27 season came to an end at the hands of the Michigan State Spartans when the Cardinals fell to the Spartans 77-69. The Cardinals' loss to the Spartans came in the second round as Louisville was able to outlast the USF Bulls in the first round, earning Louisville’s first NCAA Tournament win since 2017.

With the Cardinals playing the Bulls in the first round, a bit of social media rivalry emerged between the two fan bases. A lot of trash talk was coming from Bulls fans, and one USF guard had some bold words before the game, which ultimately gave Louisville and Pat Kelsey bulletin board material.
Well, now that player Wes Enis plans to leave the Bulls, as reported, he will enter the Transfer Portal, and Kelsey now has a golden opportunity to do something really funny.
USF star guard Wes Enis enters Transfer Portal after bold NCAA Tournament comments
Leading up to the Cardinals and Bulls showdown, Enis went viral when he stated in an interview, "I think we're the better team. I don't really care what 11-6 says. I think we're the better team, so I wouldn't really call it an upset."
The Cardinals, of course, used that as motivation, and Louisville ended Enis and the Bulls' season. Now, the Cardinals need a star guard, and Enis is looking to make the jump to a Power Four team, and the Cardinals fans can’t help but admit this would be hilarious if Louisville were to add the former Bulls guard.

Enis ranks as high as No. 22 in the Transfer Portal and No. 4 among shooting guards. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound guard is coming off an All-AAC First Team season after averaging 16.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from beyond the arc.
While Enis struggled against Louisville after his bold choice of words, scoring just four points on 13 percent shooting from the field and going 0-of-11 from beyond the arc, the USF transfer had a season to remember. He averaged 21.5 points and 2.5 steals in the American Conference Tournament, and scored 20 points or more 12 times, 25 points or more six times, and 30 points or more twice, including his impressive 36-point performance against UAB, where he went 13-of-28 from the field and 10-of-22 from downtown.
The Cardinals need a guard like Enis who plays with poise and can create his own shot. Louisville will lose Mikel Brown Jr., Ryan Conwell, and Isaac McKneely this offseason, and a player like Enis would be a great fit for what the Cardinals are looking for.
It would be hilarious to see Enis end up a Cardinal and play for Louisville, especially after the rivalry the USF fans tried to create before the NCAA Tournament, but it would also be a big-time get for Kelsey in the Transfer Portal.
