Louisville basketball secured a 71-66 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies from the Cassell Coliseum, and Cardinals fans are witnessing history.

Pat Kelsey has officially rejuvenated this program, and not only is Cardinals recruiting at an all-time high, but he is shattering multiple Louisville basketball records in just his first season of being Cardinals head coach. Louisville basketball improves to 22-6 on the year, and 15-2 in the ACC.

Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals win over Mike Young and his Hokies, marks Louisville basketball 15th win of the season in the ACC. UofL incredible performance on the court has led them to tie their ACC single-season record in program history, marking a milestone that is sure to be remembered.

With this level of achievement, Louisville basketball has firmly established themselves as a powerhouse in the ACC, as they now showcase their unlimited potential for sustained success in the future.

Pat Kelsey’s revolution makes Louisville basketball ACC giants

Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals continue to defy all expectations, as they were predicted to be ninth in the ACC. Louisville is proving that this season will be one for the ages, and their gritty toughens is leading them to surge past all record books and beat all expectations.

UofL is not only on the brink of securing their most ACC wins in one season, but they also just achieved the biggest turnaround in program history. Cardinals win over the Hokies last night secured their 22nd win this season, which means they won 14 games more this year than last.

That 14 game turnaround is not only a remarkable improvement, and one of the reasons Pat Kelsey is on the Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Watch List, but it also breaks Louisville basketball previous record of Cardinals biggest turnaround in back-to-back seasons.

In the 111-year history of Louisville basketball, the Cardinals have only been able to improve their win total by 13 wins twice, and it was back in 1984-85 to 1985-86 and 2003-04 to 2004-05. Both times Cardinals went to the Final Four, and in 1986 Louisville actually went on to win the National Championship.

Now, the record is new, Cardinals have three regular season games left and all of the postseason to absolutely shatter this record. Cardinals not only will break this record, but it is safe to say Louisville basketball and Pat Kelsey's 2024-2025 squad will also hold the programs new ACC single-season win record by the end of the season.

Pat Kelsey and his leadership has shown Louisville basketball faithful that this historic season is only the beginning. Kelsey's vision, combined with top tier recruiting, and unwavering determination of his players has set a firm foundation for sustained success
