The 2027 recruiting class is heating up, and the Louisville Cardinals are making a strong push for one of the nation's top recruits. Louisville fans are watching multiple recruits, including the top three overall prospects: CJ Rosser, DeMarcus Henry, and Cayden Daughtry.

Louisville striking out on 5-star King Gibson could be a huge blessing in disguise

But of those three, the prospect Kelsey is going all-in on and really pushing to land is Henry. Louisville has been one of the top programs in the conversation for Henry, with multiple recruiting insiders and 'Rivals' prediction meter labeling Louisville as one of the top two teams in the mix.

When it comes to Henry, he has all the tools you want. He is an elite scorer, can play through contact, and at 6-foot-7, he can use his size and strength on both ends of the floor. Kelsey was recently recorded talking with Henry about what separates him from others, and Louisville fans will love the message.

Pat Kelsey’s latest comments on DeMarcus Henry say a lot about Louisville’s pursuit

Cardinals fans want a 5-star recruit who puts in the work and gives 110% every single day. And in Kelsey’s recent message, it certainly appears that is Henry’s mindset, as Kelsey compliments the dawg mentality Henry has.

“He doesn’t realize this just because it is in him to work this hard,” stated Kelsey. “Sometimes it is like 4 a.m., and we’re in here. And that alone- I mean, obviously you’re talented, but that separates you, man. Separator man. You are a can’t-miss guy. Can’t miss, because that’s your mentality.”

Henry ranks as high as No. 2 overall and is the unanimous No. 1 small forward in the 2027 recruiting class. He is a consensus top-five prospect in the nation, as the 6-foot-7 small forward averaged 18.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam this summer.

The Cardinals landed inside Henry’s final eight, and with UConn landing a 5-star small forward last week, many believe the Huskies are no longer pursuing Henry. So now the race is down to seven, and many believe Louisville is near the top.

On3 Sports' Joe Tipton believes Arkansas is the slight favorite, with Louisville right behind, and Rivals' prediction meter gives Kentucky the edge at 22.4 percent, with Louisville next at 19.6 percent. According to Tipton, the 5-star is expected to announce his decision later this month, on his birthday, October 30, but nothing is set in stone or official yet.

With the 5-star small forward eyeing a decision in a couple of weeks, keep a close eye on this one, as Kelsey has Louisville in the mix and in the conversation for landing his third 5-star in three years.
