2024 Week 3 12-team College Football Playoff rankings prediction

The Louisville football team is getting closer to being firmly in the CFP picture.

The Louisville football team started the season just outside the top 25 in the polls. Despite winning ten games a year ago, the media did not expect good things from the Cardinals in year two under Jeff Brohm. Based on the first two weeks, the media was wrong.

Louisville is one of the few teams in the ACC that looks like a contender. Clemson got waxed by Georgia, Georgia Tech just lost, NC State got crushed, and Florida State has already lost twice. The Cardinals look pretty good right now just two weeks into the season.

But are they good enough right now to be considered in the College Football Playoff picture? A lot of upsets mean that there is quite a shakeup to this week's CFP prediction table. While Louisville is close to being in the top 12, they aren't quite there this year.

The ACC is only good enough to get one team into the Playoff right now. Miami looks like the best team in the conference. Give me another week and I might be persuaded to slide the Louisville Cardinals into the top 12 at one of those lower slots depending on what happens around them.

Michigan and Notre Dame fall out after abysmal losses. Losing to a MAC team means the Fighting Irish have to go undefeated the rest of the way to get in. I'm starting to think they could lose to the Cardinals in a couple of weeks. Michigan's schedule is brutal and the offense looks anemic. I doubt they get in.

Ole Miss gets in because they are one of the few SEC teams that looks good through two weeks. The Rebels and Texas look like the two best teams in the conference. Alabama gets in now just because no one else looks good enough to take that final at-large spot right now.

Next week could bring even more changes to the 12-tema Playoff picture.
