The Louisville football team has their hardest game of the season today. Taking on Notre Dame in South Bend will be a big test. It's their first road game of the season, but they still feel confident they can win the game. Louisville is ready to show the country that they are a CFP contender.

In order to win this game and keep up their undefeated record, they have to keep themselves healthy. Before this game against the Irish, they got some good news and some bad news on the injury front. I actually think the bad news outweighs the good news in this instance.

Louisville football team will get their receiver back but lose a key DB

Let's start things on the positive side. Transfer receiver Caullin Lacy will give it a go today and make his season debut. The Cardinals were expecting him to be their number-one receiver heading into the season after he transferred in from South Alabama. He broke his collarbone in mid-August though.

This is his first game back, and he adds an explosive element to an already explosive offense. Lacy will make the Louisville Cardinals even more dangerous through the air. Adding him back for this game is a big help for a team playing their hardest game of the year.

Unfortunately, they will also be missing a key player from the defense. Their great defensive back Quincy Riley is doubtful for this game. Riley is the best cornerback that the Cardinals have. If he doesn't play, his loss would be bigger than gaining Lacy for the offense.

That's because Louisville's offense has already been really good without Lacy. They may not need him to win this game. They might need Riley. Even though Riley Leonard has not been good at passing the ball so far this season, losing your best DB before the biggest game of the year makes things harder.

Louisville is hopeful that not having Riley won't matter for this one.
