It's time the Louisville football team is taken seriously
By Ryan Stano
The Louisville football team came into Saturday's game unproven but confident. They had blown out each of the two teams that they had faced before the bye week and looked like a great team. The team they were taking on Saturday was by far the best team they'd played.
Louisville took on Georgia Tech in their first ACC game of the season. It was the first game that was supposed to test them. The Cardinals passed that test with flying colors after a 31-19 victory over the Yellow Jackets. It was an effort that should get the attention of the rest of the country.
Surprisingly, the Louisville Cardinals weren't able to run the ball as effectively as they had in the first two games. In fact, they only ran for 57 yards on 27 attempts, which is a bit alarming. That meant that Tyler Shough and the passing game had to take over. That certainly happened.
The Louisville football team showed that they are a forced to be reckoned with
Shough was not only able to pick up the slack, but he showed that he could carry the offense if he needed to. He was 13/19 for 269 yards and two touchdowns. The best part of that line is that he didn't throw for any interceptions. In fact, the Cardinals did not turn the ball over at all.
Louisville had a fumble return for a touchdown, showing that their defense is still a strength of the team. After a game like this, the rest of the country needs to be on notice. This Cardinals team might be the best team in the ACC and has a good chance at getting the automatic berth in the CFP.
The Cardinals now face Notre Dame next week. It's a Fighting Irish team that still looks vulnerable. That game is winnable for sure.
