The Louisville football team got some bad news before the season even started. One of the players they were counting on to be a big part of the offense got hurt and was projected to miss at least a month. It was a blow to a team that didn't have any of their top contributors on that side of the ball returning.

Caullin Lacy broke his collarbone before the year even started and has missed the first two games of the season. He wasn't able to play against Austin Peay or Jacksonville State. When he first got hurt, the Notre Dame game was looked at as the earliest game he could come back for.

Cardinals fans got some good news when it was reported that Lacy has returned to practice this week. That gives him a shot to play a few snaps this week against Georgia Tech before that big matchup in South Bend against the Fighting Irish next week.

Lacy is a transfer from South Alabama and he was projected to be the number one option for this offense. That might not be the case anymore now that Ja'Corey Brooks has played so well in the first two games. Still, Lacy gives this team another threat out wide.

I would be shocked if Lacy actually plays this weekend. He's not expected to. He actually said that he's hopeful to return for that big matchup against Notre Dame. Louisville shouldn't need him against the Yellow Jackets this weekend. They will need him against the Fighting Irish.

Lacy was projected to miss six to eight weeks with his broken collarbone. That Notre Dame game is on the front end of that timeline. There's a chance he doesn't quite get back for that game, either. Here's hoping that he can.
