As Jeff Brohm tries to build the Louisville football program, he's trying to land as many high-level recruits as possible. Unfortunately, he lost out on a good corner.

The Louisville football team is building. The Cardinals won ten games last season and were actually in the running for the CFP until the end of the year. Jeff Brohm feels good about being able to win that many games in his first year but he still wants to win more.

In order to do that Brohm needs to keep bringing in great players. Recruiting is an important part of building any good program. Right now, the Cardinals have just 13 recruits in their 2025 class. That's only good enough for them to be 65th in the country in the recruiting rankings.

They have time to fix that, but they did just lose out on a four-star recruit who would really have helped on the defensive side of the ball. That recruit is Ben Hanks Jr. He's a cornerback from Miami. He had the Cardinals in his final three schools.

Hanks Jr. had Louisville, Miami, and Florida in his final three schools. Louisville was always a stretch to land him. That's because his dad played at Florida. The Gators were always the favorite to land him, and that's exactly what happened. Hanks Jr. has decided to play for the Gators.

The Cardinals are still trying to get some other recruits to improve their team and their recruiting ranking. The 2025 class likely won't be full, but they will get enough recruits to fill positional needs. Brohm has also shown that he can effectively use the transfer portal as well.

Brohm has shown that he can build a program to the point that they can upset a big-time program. He did that with Purdue when the took down Ohio State. Louisville is still looking for that under Brohm and certainly has the coaching staff in place to make that happen.
