The Louisville football team finally played a good team this weekend. Georgia Tech came to town for the Cardinals' first ACC game of the season. While Louisville looked great in the first two games of the season, they were against Austin Peay and Jacksonville State. Those teams aren't exactly contenders for the College Football Playoff.

Louisville knew that they needed to have a win this weekend in order to show everyone that they deserve to be taken seriously. They did just that, getting a 31-19 win against the Yellow Jackets. It was a solid game on offense for the Cardinals and the defense showed up when they needed to.

While the Jackets aren't the best team in the ACC, they aren't the worst either. They very well could finish fifth or sixth in the conference. With this win, the Louisville Cardinals have announced themselves as true contenders for the College Football Playoff.

One of the biggest reasons why Louisville has a real shot at making the CFP is the play of quarterback Tyler Shough. Shough is finally healthy and is showing what he can do when he's not hurt. He had another good game in this one, throwing for 269 yards and two touchdowns.

Shough now has eight touchdowns and no interceptions on the year. He has stopped turning the ball over too, which is something he struggled with when he was healthy in previous years. All in all, he's elevated his game. That raises the ceiling of what this offense can do.

Louisville takes on Notre Dame next week in South Bend. Notre Dame hasn't looked very good since their opening win against Texas A&M and looks beatable. If the Cardinals win that game, we may have a new favorite to win the ACC.
