The Louisville football team showed the offense won't be a problem

The Louisville football team absolutely dominated against Austin Peay and the offense showed they won't be an issue.

The Louisville football team wanted to show everyone that they had the wrong idea about them. So what if they have to replace several key offensive starters? That doesn't mean that the offense isn't going to be good enough for them to win games. I think they put that narrative to bed.

Yes, it was only Austin Peay. The Governors are the worst team that the Cardinals will face all season long. But a 62-0 win is still impressive no matter how you slice it. What made it better is the fact that the Cardinals did it without anything from running back Donald Chaney.

Chaney might not get much playing time based on what we saw on Saturday. Issac Brown was the story with the ground game. He only carried the ball five times but he gained 123 yards on those carries, including a 77-yard touchdown run. In fact, the whole stable of backs looked great.

Louisville football team's offense shows how good they can be

If you take out the two sacks of the quarterbacks, the Cardinals ran for 311 yards on just 26 carries. That kind of production on the ground will certainly do wonders for them. Having a running game that productive will take pressure off of Tyler Shough to be the playmaker.

Speaking of Shough, he wasn't too bad either. He had 232 yards passing with four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. That's a pretty good way for him to debut for the Cardinals. Again, the competition wasn't strong. It's still never bad to see an offense produce like this.

Next week will get slightly tougher for the Louisville Cardinals. They take on Jacksonville State, who is at least an FBS opponent. We'll see if the Cardinals are able to sustain their level of production against an opponent who is a little bit tougher.
