The Louisville football team has shown up the haters early in the season. After taking down Austin Peay 62-0 in the first game of the season, the Cardinals followed that up with a 49-14 win over Jacksonville State in Week 2. It has been two weeks of dominant football.

Not only has the defense been as good as advertised, but the offense has also been better than people thought. Scoring over 100 points in the first two weeks of the season is very impressive. Now they get to head into a bye week to get rested and watch the rest of college football play.

The rest of college football has struggled early in the year. Several ranked teams went down on Saturday. Notre Dame, Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Georgia Tech, and NC State all went down. That only helps Louisville's case to make the College Football Playoff as an at-large team.

The Louisville football team has had a great start to the 2024 season

With how many other teams lost, the Cardinals have a great shot to jump into the top 20 of the polls. They also look like one of the two best teams in the ACC right now. Only Miami looks better and Louisville gets the Canes at home this season. Even the Notre Dame game in a few weeks looks less daunting.

All of a sudden, the Cardinals look like they could be a real threat to win the ACC. Jeff Brohm has his team ready to play and he should be happy with how his team has responded early in the year. With everyone else suffering upsets, the Cardinals have been able to stay focused and avoid that.

As long as Tyler Shough keeps slinging it around and protecting the football and the running game keeps being strong, this team should keep winning games.
